, they have become focal points of the team’s offense, one earning a pair of MVP awards and the other holding the distinction of being the NFL’s most efficient running back so far in 2018.On Sunday, neither one played up to those lofty descriptions, as the Packers inexplicably lost to the 2-9 Arizona Cardinals at home. Then, a few hours later, the two got what was likely a bittersweet birthday present: head coach Mike McCarthy was fired.McCarthy has taken heat for the way he has managed Jones, perhaps more than any other single issue this season. Between failing to work him into the featured running back role early enough and going long stretches of games without giving him the football (one tough in the second quarter on Sunday after ten in the first), that has been one of the biggest complaints Packers fans have had with the former head man.Of course, it was the deterioration of the offense’s overall production and Aaron Rodgers’ success as a passer that were probably the two biggest reasons that Mark Murphy relieved McCarthy of his duties. A Rodgers-led offense should never rank 26th in the league in converting third downs. And it certainly should never lose when favored by two touchdowns at home against one of the worst — if not the worst — team in the NFL.Now, McCarthy is gone. Murphy will reportedly be deciding on the next head coach, with general manager Brian Gutekunst providing substantial input rather than making the decision himself. It’s a lot to take in, but let’s try to make some sense of it on this bizarre Monday morning.Packers ‘not good enough’ to beat Cardinals | Packers.comAfter McCarthy got the axe last night دیدن لینک ها برای شما امکان پذیر نیست. لطفا ثبت نام کنید یا وارد حساب خود شوید تا بتوانید لینک ها را ببینید.
, it's almost easy to forget the loss earlier in the day that precipitated the move. If the team is interested in any college coaches (*cough* Lincoln Riley), the time off before bowl games would make for an ideal interview period.Darts has a farting controversy, and nobody agrees who smelt it or dealt it - SBNation.comHere's a lighter story to give you a laugh in light of everything going on in Green Bay. This story stinks, but still not as badly as the Packers' third-down offense does. But curiously, there was one Power Five conference not represented in Green Bay’s draft choices: the Pac-12.As the draft concluded, it marked the end of an eight-year streak of the Packers selecting at least one player from the Western-most power conference. , Green Bay did not go west of Fort Worth, Texas with any of its picks in 2019 after drafting Cole Madison (Washington State) and James Looney (California) a year ago. The Packers have turned their attention often to the Pac-12 as seen in the chart below.Packers’ Pac-12 Selections in Eight-Year StreakYearRoundPlayerCollegePositionYearRoundPlayerCollegePositionCoincidence or not, 2019 marked the first draft since long-time Packers West regional scout Sam Seale was promoted to national scout. Seale had held that area scouting post since 2012 and there is little doubt he held plenty of influence in the war room with the Packers’ string of selections and eventual promotion since that time. Might that move have made a difference this April? The Packers did, however, draft three players from the Southeastern Conference, a continuation of interest in the conference for Green Bay over the past three years. When Green Bay picked Montravius Adams and Malachi Dupre in the 2017 NFL Draft, it was the first time the Packers had selected SEC players since Ha Ha Clinton-Dix in 2014. Green Bay had actually only taken nine combined players from the conference since 2012. But since then, the team has selected three players from the SEC in each of the 2018 and 2019 drafts. Packers’ SEC selections since 2017YearRoundPlayerCollegePositionYearRoundPlayerCollegePositionWith Seale now in a national scouting role, it will be intriguing to see if this emerging SEC drafting trend continues next year. Perhaps the 2019 Pac-12-less draft is just a one-year blip in the radar for a Green Bay franchise that has certainly valued that region. But as one long-standing draft streak ended, has another begun?
